![]() ![]() Like Malzeno, Afflicted Monsters can inflict Bloodblight with most of their physical attacks. Unlike Apex Monsters, these monsters are not considered separate from the monster's standard form. However in some rare cases, some monsters seem to have grown in size compared to regular members of their species from their failed symbiosis with the Qurio. Qurio swarms gather around these creatures, similar to Malzeno and Gaismagorm. It is theorized these particles are most likely the eggs or young of the Qurio.Īfflicted Monsters retain their much of their standard form, however bodies become noticeably darker in color, their eyes become red, and they are constantly shrouded in a dark red aura. Wherever an Afflicted Monster occurs, glowing red particles can be seen floating within vicinity, even contaminating certain materials. ![]() Hence, Doctor Tadori created a much more stronger cure with poison from Flaming Espinas and soapy fluid from Violet Mizutsune. Lately the antidote became less effective over time due to the constantly evolving Qurio. Bahari is currently doing research on the Qurio. However, as the Qurio mature, this virus becomes more potent, thus required stronger cure resulted by mixing the original with poison from Espinas for more potent effect. Said disease can be cured with special antidote, made by Doctor Tadori. Thus a plague occurred in the Kingdom until the Qurio outbreak stopped and sickness was forgotten due to it never resurfaced again. In the past of the Kingdom, the juvenile Qurio have attempted parasitizing humans, but that was proven ineffective due to their incompatibility to the virus compared to monsters, which in the latter case, turning them more aggressive and eventually fall into the Afflicted State. The juvenile of Qurio are very small and hard to notice until too late. They cannot effectively produce the nutrient on their own, thus needing hosts like the Afflicted and the mentioned Elder Dragons in order to properly feed on the energy needed, doing so empowering their host in the process. They are parasites can drain the lifeforce out of any creatures they latch onto and transmit a virus that sickens their victims. The Qurio are pink flying leech-like creatures that are usually seen around Malzeno and Gaismagorm. However, Elder Dragons can overcome Affliction and become Risen Elder Dragons, becoming even more dangerous. Even other Elder Dragon level monsters and Elder Dragons themselves can be affected by the Qurio. As a result, the Afflicted Monsters are considered Elder Dragon-level threats because of this. When the Afflicted host dies, the Qurio will seek new hosts to become Afflicted. Due to their enhanced abilities along with their aggressive behavior, Afflicted Monsters cannot be captured though they can still trigger traps. The Afflicted Monsters slowly die due to being incompatible with Qurio as their life force is slowly drained, but until that time their natural abilities are drastically improved. They first appeared when Malzeno and Gaismagorm, their natural hosts, were killed in the main story. Due to the parasitic nature of the Qurio, these monsters are extremely violent, making them a dangerous threat.
